Mastercard announced the launch of\u00a0Mastercard Threat Intelligence<\/a>, the first threat intelligence offering applied to payments at scale. The solution combines Mastercard\u2019s global fraud insights with cyber threat intelligence from\u00a0Recorded Future, empowering financial institutions across Asia-Pacific (APAC) to detect, prevent and respond to cyber-enabled fraud with greater speed and accuracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The intelligence gap between cyber and fraud teams remains critical.\u00a0Sixty percent\u00a0of global fraud and risk executives are notified of cyber data breaches only after fraud losses begin, a figure that rises to 67% across APAC.[1]\u00a0Similarly, 83% of APAC financial institution leaders report frustration with the lack of real-time cyber threat intelligence (CTI) integration.<\/p>\n

\u201cPayment fraud is no longer just a payment system issue \u2014 it\u2019s a cybersecurity challenge that directly impacts an organization\u2019s bottom line,\u201d Matthew Driver, executive vice president of Services, Asia Pacific at Mastercard said. \u201cMastercard Threat Intelligence bridges communication gaps, enabling fraud and security teams to work together seamlessly to stop fraud before it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAsia Pacific is seeing a surge in cyber-enabled fraud, and the need for integrated intelligence has never been more urgent,\u201d said Aditi Sawhney, senior vice president of Security Solutions, Asia Pacific at Mastercard. \u201cWe\u2019re helping our customers move from fragmented responses to unified, intelligence-led defense strategies that strengthen resilience across the payments ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mastercard Threat Intelligence offers customers the following key features:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Card testing detection:\u00a0Real-time alerts and proactive declines of fraudulent test transactions, reducing downstream fraud and protecting cardholders.
\n\u2022\u00a0Digital skimming intelligence:\u00a0Quantitative data to assess skimmer impacts and disrupt card-related malware, leveraging Mastercard\u2019s industry partnerships.
\n\u2022\u00a0Merchant threat intelligence:\u00a0Targeted insights to assess merchant risk and enable faster incident response.
\n\u2022\u00a0Payment ecosystem threat intelligence:\u00a0Weekly reports on emerging threats and vulnerabilities across the global payments landscape.
\n\u2022\u00a0Payment intelligence reports:\u00a0Actionable case studies and fraud trend analysis to inform strategy and strengthen defenses.<\/p>\n

Operational silos continue to challenge risk resilience. Two in three fraud and risk leaders worldwide highlighted silos as a top concern, with 72% of APAC leaders citing this entrenched issue as their highest priority.<\/p>\n

Despite the challenges, APAC leaders are also seeing the benefits of improved integration. Most (89%) institutions in the region report faster fraud defense responses following integration efforts, leading all global regions in speed gains.<\/p>\n

The launch of Mastercard Threat Intelligence comes less than a year after Mastercard finalized its acquisition of Recorded Future, and demonstrates the companies\u2019 commitment to delivering a unified, intelligence-led approach to securing the digital economy.<\/p>\n

During market testing over the course of six months, Mastercard\u2019s intelligence data helped ecosystem partners identify and take down malicious domains tied to the theft of payment card data, which had impacted nearly 9,500 ecommerce sites and were linked to an estimated $120 million in fraud losses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
