Recognizing the continuous need to safeguard Filipinos from rising online fraud and scams, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating\u00a0Center<\/span>\u00a0(CICC), the lead agency under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) tasked with combating cybercrime, has forged a stronger alliance with leading finance app\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0to boost cyber protection for digital financial services.<\/strong><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), this partnership strengthens incident response and information sharing. It also supports the government\u2019s capacity-building programs to further enhance cyber resilience.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by CICC\u00a0Usec<\/span>. Renato \u201cAboy<\/span>\u201d A.\u00a0Paraiso<\/span>, who was joined by Dir. Alvin M. Navarro and Dir.\u00a0Rojun<\/span>\u00a0V.\u00a0Hosillos<\/span>, together with other CICC officials. Representing\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0were\u00a0Mynt\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0(parent company of\u00a0GCash<\/span>) group head for new businesses,\u00a0Winsley<\/span>\u00a0Royce\u00a0Bangit<\/span>, chief legal and compliance officer, Atty.\u00a0Maricor<\/span>\u00a0Alvarez-Adriano, G-Xchange<\/span>\u00a0Inc., head of legal, Atty. Gilbert\u00a0Escoto<\/span>, with the support of\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0head of advocacy, Atty. Mark Anthony\u00a0Amurao<\/span>,\u00a0Mynt\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0chief information and security officer, Miguel\u00a0Geronilla<\/span>, and vice president and head of corporate communications and public affairs, Gilda\u00a0Maquilan<\/span>.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration, Undersecretary\u00a0Paraiso<\/span>\u00a0noted, \u201cCybersecurity<\/span>\u00a0is not the responsibility of the government alone\u2014it requires strong collaboration with industry leaders like\u00a0GCash<\/span>. Through this partnership, we are sending a clear message to cybercriminals that we are united in protecting Filipinos and will relentlessly pursue those who seek to exploit our digital economy. Together, we are building a safer and more resilient cyberspace where trust and innovation can thrive.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

The collaboration comes at a time when digital platforms are increasingly targeted by fraudsters. With stronger cooperation between the government and the private sector, both CICC and\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0are committed to reinforcing user protection and building greater trust in the country\u2019s digital ecosystem.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

For its part,\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0has been taking proactive measures, successfully blocking over 4 million fraudulent accounts and taking down thousands of malicious posts. These efforts will be further strengthened and complemented by CICC\u2019s expertise, enabling\u00a0GCash<\/span>\u00a0to better protect users who rely on digital services for their everyday transactions.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
