Championing efforts to improve the quality of life of Filipinos through the power of mobility, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the country\u2019s leading mobility company, teamed up with local children\u2019s bookstore Basa Bookstore for its educational campaign and storytelling caravan\u00a0Lakbay-Kuwentuhan<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basa Bookstore toured different provinces with the All-New Toyota Lite Ace Panel Van to deliver storybooks to children for the first leg of their Lakbay Kuwentuhan caravan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An initiative by Basa Bookstore to celebrate International Book Giving Day last month,\u00a0Lakbay-Kuwentuhan<\/em>\u00a0hopes to raise awareness about the importance of education among Filipino children and encourage them to read by distributing locally published books. The campaign aims to give away 5,000 books to public schools, reach 10,000 students, and facilitate 20 storytelling workshops for 1,000 public school teachers across the Philippines in 2023 alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the whole month of February, the Lakbay-Kuwentuhan<\/em> caravan traveled around South Luzon delivering storybooks to children from Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate and Albay in the Bicol region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we started the book-giving caravan amidst a pandemic and after Typhoon Ulysses, Toyota was eager to support our cause.  We at Lakbay-Kuwentuhan<\/em> aim to bring Filipino stories written by Filipino authors for Filipino children to communities across the country to lessen the effects of the pandemic on children\u2019s reading attitudes and in support of DepEd\u2019s Bawat Bata Bumabasa<\/em> campaign,\u201d said Rey Bufi, Founder and Chief Storytelling officer of Basa Bookstore.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 2,430 kilometers travelled, TMP has helped the organization reach 12 communities in the said provinces to serve more than 3,000 students. Lakbay-Kuwentuhan<\/em> managed to conduct three workshops and give six storytelling sessions in its last caravan. \u201cFor these, we and the local communities are so grateful for Toyota\u2019s role in moving our world,\u201d added Rey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
