{"id":51292,"date":"2022-09-09T14:21:53","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T06:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=51292"},"modified":"2022-09-09T14:21:56","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T06:21:56","slug":"pldt-gears-up-capacity-capabilities-and-infrastructure-to-serve-global-hyperscalers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2022\/09\/09\/pldt-gears-up-capacity-capabilities-and-infrastructure-to-serve-global-hyperscalers\/","title":{"rendered":"PLDT gears up capacity, capabilities and infrastructure to serve global hyperscalers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PLDT is set on advancing the country\u2019s digital transformation and ambition to build the hyperscaler industry as it announced the start of construction of two more major ICT infrastructure projects before the end of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the PLDT Group\u2019s build-out of the country\u2019s largest hyperscaler data center (DC) Vitro Sta. Rosa and the activation of Jupiter, the fastest international cable direct to the US and Japan, PLDT will inaugurate the construction of its fourth cable landing station to be located in Baler, Aurora, and the initial construction phase of the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) system, both by the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter the successful launch and activation of Jupiter, PLDT hopes to lead the country to become the best Transpacific cable hub in Asia, as we work on delivering additional subsea cables and new cable landing stations in 2024,\u201d said former PLDT VP and Technology Advisor for Enterprise Victor Aliwalas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cable landing station in Baler, to be completed by 2024, will supplement PLDT\u2019s international gateway in the northern and eastern borders while the ADC cable, to be completed by end-2023, strengthens the country\u2019s data links in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cApart from the DC and the International connectivity, PLDT is also leading the charge on 5G rollouts and domestic fiber rollouts on top of all the other platforms to significantly increase the country&#8217;s take up of digitalization. We are not focusing on just one or two pillars, we are building out the entire ecosystem to work as a whole. We need a full working and energized system to support this hyperscale initiative and PLDT is determined to put together everything to be the strongest hyperscale player in the country, to establish and promote the Philippines as a hyperscale destination,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PLDT has been working closely with government agencies, including the Department of Trade of Industry (DTI) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in positioning the Philippines as the next hyperscaler hub in Asia Pacific, as the country transforms into a globally competitive and digitally empowered nation. Make doing business in the Philippines a promising proposition for investors and partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe that the hyperscalers industry will be the next growth engine of the Philippines. Let us make hyperscaler investments and partnerships happen in the Philippines,\u201d Secretary Pascual emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy also recognized the crucial role of ICT in the social economic development of the country saying \u201cthe value of information and communications technology or ICT is encompassing. It is necessary in every aspect of life, business, education, and in advancing our general scientific understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe still have a lot of improvement on key strategic areas such as digital infrastructure buildup to achieve the President&#8217;s goal of a digitally transformed Philippine government. Hence, it&#8217;s important for us to address the gaps that hinder our drive towards inclusive growth and innovation, especially the long-standing gap in the development of digital connectivity nationwide.
