Boasting in-memory technologies across all workloads, hybrid cloud optimization, HD Insight service, cloud business intelligence and enhanced security and scalability, SQL Server 2014, Microsoft\u2019s latest relational database management system, has launched in the Philippines to help organizations gain valuable business insight from the mounting data they have generated.<\/p>\n

With built-in in-memory technologies for online transaction processing (OLTP), SQL Server 2014 can help speed up business transactions for all workloads, delivering speed improvement of up to 30 times faster than the previous version. It provides mission-critical performance for the most demanding database applications like Excel, and is a recommended platform for building, deploying and managing solutions that span on-premises infrastructure and cloud.<\/p>\n

In the same platform, Microsoft also provides a limited preview of a new cloud offering known as Azure Intelligent Systems Service (ISS) which securely connects to, manages and captures machine-generated data from sensors and devices that will result to the growth of the Internet of Things. These data will be stored in the cloud, where it is also accessible to other Microsoft database application like Excel.<\/p>\n

Running on Microsoft Azure ISS, the Analytics Platform Systems (APS) is the solution\u2019s capability which combines the best of SQL Server database and Hadoop technology in its HDInsight service, bringing support for cloud-based Hadoop service.<\/p>\n

SQL Server 2014 also offers Power Query for Excel which makes it easier for people to discover data; and bring structured and unstructured data together in a data warehouse appliance through Polybase.<\/p>\n

Another feature of the new platform is the capability to integrate to the cloud using Office suite in the form of Power BI for Office 365, a cloud-based, self-service business intelligence solution with groundbreaking natural language capability. This solution extends the existing self-service business intelligence capabilities available in Excel to Office 365.
