{"id":50544,"date":"2022-08-08T07:17:04","date_gmt":"2022-08-07T23:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=50544"},"modified":"2022-08-08T07:17:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-07T23:17:07","slug":"eastern-communications-globe-in%ef%ac%81nivan-kickstart-phs-longest-submarine-%ef%ac%81ber-cable-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2022\/08\/08\/eastern-communications-globe-in%ef%ac%81nivan-kickstart-phs-longest-submarine-%ef%ac%81ber-cable-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastern Communications, Globe, In\ufb01niVAN kickstart PH\u2019s longest submarine \ufb01ber cable network"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eastern Communications, digital solutions platform Globe, and Internet service provider In\ufb01niVAN kickstarted the deployment of \ufb01ber cables to build the country\u2019s longest submarine \ufb01ber cable network.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN), a joint project among the three companies, aims to improve both mobile and broadband connectivity and \ufb01berize previously unserved areas across the country\u2019s three main island groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In ceremonies at Subic Bay in Zambales, executives of Eastern Communications, Globe, In\ufb01niVAN, and Japanese vendor partner Kokusai Cable Ship Co. Ltd. (KCS), gave a simple sendoff to state-of-the-art ship Cable In\ufb01nity, the \u201cnumber one high-technology cable ship in the world,\u201d according to KCS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ship will ferry cables that will cover the PDSCN, which has a total cable distance of roughly 2,500 kilometers or about the same distance between Manila and Singapore. It will be landing at several points across the country, including Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Camiguin, Siargao, Boracay, and Zamboanga, for undersea laying in 24 segments over the next 9 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe persevered and we\u2019re now almost there. This is the start of the cable laying. This is really exciting, it\u2019s such a beautiful milestone. May we always keep the connections strong,\u201d said Arlene Jallorina, Vice President for Strategic Infrastructure Investments for Globe Business, Enterprise Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe know there may be other challenges along the way. We hope we\u2019ll be able to work through them quickly and very much solidly as a group. We are doing this so that our customers will get equitable access to connectivity, wherever they may be in the country,\u201d said Jallorina at the kickoff event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eastern Communications Co-coordinator Vince Tempongko cited the importance of the joint effort to boost life-enabling connectivity across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we are doing is not just for Globe, Eastern, or In\ufb01niVAN but for the Filipino people. Providing equitable access to mobile and internet connection in all parts of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the country has been our dream, and through this cooperation, we are \ufb01nally at the cusp of realizing this goal,\u201d Tempongko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eastern Communications Co-coordinator Atty. Aileen Regio shared the many bene\ufb01ts this brings to the Filipino people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are very much hopeful that this project can be the answer that will open doors to great outcomes, solve the many challenges we are facing and be bigger than it already is,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\ufb01niVAN Chief Technology Of\ufb01cer Alberto \u201cAbet\u201d Espedido expressed gratitude to the companies and the working team. Together, Eastern Communications, Globe, and In\ufb01niVAN took the crucial \ufb01rst step towards laying the cables after two years of planning and coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019d like to thank everyone for their perseverance, professionalism, experience and patience, we were able to get through all the challenges.
