(PLDT) and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) are making it more convenient for customers to receive, view, and store their monthly bills. Starting April, enterprise customers of PLDT and Smart may be able to view their statements of account through online channels, as the PLDT group migrates to paperless billing. This complements the earlier implementation of the same arrangement for the group\u2019s individual and home broadband customers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe enjoin our customers to embrace the move towards default paperless billing. This shift is part of our unrelenting focus on improving our Enterprise customer\u2019s experience that ensures easier access, a more timely delivery of their statements of account, as well as safeguarding data privacy. This is also aligned with our group-wide sustainability efforts at PLDT, as a steward of this planet for the next generation,\u201d said Alfredo S. Panlilio, President and CEO at PLDT and Smart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Faster, safer, easier&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paperless billing allows customers to immediately access their monthly statement as soon as they become available, giving them more time to settle their bill before the due date.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sending statements directly to customers\u2019 inbox also avoids accidental misdelivery and prevents customer data from falling into the wrong hands.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Storing them will also be more convenient and space-saving as they can be viewed readily online. With PLDT and Smart\u2019s robust cybersecurity infrastructure, customers are assured that their personal information are well-protected.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hand in hand with paperless billing, PLDT and Smart are also expanding digital payment channels, enabling customers to save time and money as they can settle their bill in the comfort of their homes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the world continues to adapt to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, digital bill deliveries are also safer as they eliminate personal interaction.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPaperless or digital billing provides a more secure and efficient bill access to our enterprise customers. Across industries where our clients operate, we have seen how digitalization has contributed significantly to our customers\u2019 operations and profits. We foresee that our shift to digital billing will further elevate the quality of the service we provide to them,\u201d said Joseph Ian Gendrano, First Vice President and Head of Enterprise and International at PLDT and Smart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Less is more&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The migration to paperless billing moves in lock step with the PLDT group\u2019s overall sustainability efforts to employ more environment friendly processes, joining companies around the world in the fight against depletion of natural resources and climate change.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe shift to paperless billing allows our customers to join hands with the PLDT Group in doing our collective part in saving the environment and mitigating the effects of climate change.&nbsp; Aside from cutting less trees, this initiative will help reduce carbon emissions by eliminating the need for vehicles to deliver bills,\u201d said Melissa Vergel De Dios, First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at PLDT.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shift to digital monthly statements saves a thousand trees or 12 hectares of forest each month. It also conserves some 117,000 kwH of energy and 1,400 liters of water used in paper production. The ecofriendly initiative also cuts monthly carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 30 tons from the use of fossil fuels in delivering bills.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The migration to digital billing is aligned with the PLDT group\u2019s push to streamline processes in its group-wide pivot to digital transformation.
