Remote work, said Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky, is not a new practice in business; it has been going on for some years now. Usually, this is done by executives who do a lot of traveling. In fact, based on his personal experience, \u201cI myself have been doing this for years with my responsibilities across the Southeast Asia region.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it can be argued that many of the ICT changes were \u201crushed\u201d by COVID-19, with Yeo adding that \u201cI think the difference during this pandemic, besides that it happened rapidly, is that remote work was adopted even by sectors you\u2019ve never thought would utilize it and it\u2019s even offered to all levels across the organization. An example of a sector that probably surprised us a lot is the health industry where check-ups and consults have become available and encouraged to be done virtually if it’s not a Covid-19 case. We\u2019re so accustomed to physical doctor visits but now because of the threat of the virus, the health sector chose this alternative for everyone\u2019s safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn essence, to create effective cybersecurity, the ideal formula has these three things,\u201d Yeo said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, \u201cpeople – continued education on all levels of cyber hygiene to those who belong in the organization.\u201d Second, \u201cprocesses – collaboration within the organization and other sectors to combat cyberattacks.\u201d And third, \u201ctechnologies – use of the most current technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, \u201cwe at Kaspersky always advocate that everyone should at least have a security solution to their devices be it in their laptops or desktops and mobile phones,\u201d Yeo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
