The data, based on choices from over 1.3 million registered learners, offers insight into the skills, competencies, and subject-matter most desirable to the Filipinos. Reflecting the ongoing need to mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, Philippines\u2019 top course this year as well was Johns Hopkins University\u2019s\u00a0COVID-19 Contact Tracing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2021 data shows that Filipino learners were particularly enthusiastic about language courses including Yonsei University\u2019s\u00a0First Step Korean\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Learn to Speak Korean 1, and Saint Petersburg State University\u2019s\u00a0Japanese for beginners 1. Learners also strived to hone their business skills needed to thrive in the global economy, including\u00a0professional English-language competency, and an understanding of\u00a0financial markets. According to the study, Filipino Coursera learners recognized the shifting nature of work, and prioritized\u00a0 mental health and wellbeing.\u00a0They explored the human brain through courses like\u00a0Learning How to Learn\u00a0from Deep Teaching Solutions, Yale University&#8217;s\u00a0Introduction to Psychology\u00a0and\u00a0The Science of Wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, Coursera observed a rising uptake of courses related to Professional Certificates, which are\u00a0designed to prepare learners without a college degree or technology experience for a wide range of high-demand digital jobs. The growing emphasis on these certificates will also help to reduce a skills gap that saw the Philippines rank 60th and 77th globally for Data Science and Technology proficiency respectively in the latest\u00a0Coursera Global Skills Report.\u00a0 Google\u2019s\u00a0Foundations: Data, Data Everywhere, which forms part of Google\u2019s\u00a0Data Analytics Professional Certificate\u00a0ranked 7th this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#8217;s inspiring to see learners make strong progress on their learning goals even as challenges persisted around the world. This year\u2019s learner trends suggest that Filipino learners are recognizing the needs of the digital economy while simultaneously striving to gain control of their mental health,&#8221; said\u00a0Raghav Gupta,\u00a0Managing Director &#8211; Asia Pacific, Coursera.\u00a0&#8220;Filipino learners are preparing themselves for success &#8212; seeking ways to build future-proof professional skills, especially across business and data science.
