{"id":46812,"date":"2021-12-14T13:25:56","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T05:25:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=46812"},"modified":"2021-12-14T13:25:58","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T05:25:58","slug":"dost-sei-knowledge-channel-ink-content-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2021\/12\/14\/dost-sei-knowledge-channel-ink-content-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"DOST-SEI, Knowledge Channel ink content partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Department of Science and Technology \u2013 Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI)\u00a0entered into a partnership agreement with the Knowledge Channel Foundation\u00a0Inc.\u00a0(KCFI) towards\u00a0making\u00a0the Institute\u2019s\u00a0educational content more accessible to students and teachers\u00a0throughout the Philippines via the Knowledge Channel\u2019s on-air and online platforms.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, the DOST-SEI\u00a0set out to adapt its\u00a0educational programs into distance learning initiatives in line with the Institute\u2019s mandate to promote\u00a0science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These initiatives included\u00a0novel\u00a0video programs\u00a0such as\u00a0<em>RadyoEskwela\u202fsa\u202fSiyensya<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>TuklaSiyensya<\/em>, as well as beloved\u00a0mainstays\u00a0such as\u00a0the\u00a0Indie-Siyensya\u202fFilmmaking\u00a0Competition,\u00a0the\u00a0imake.wemake\u202fYouth Innovation Prize Award,\u202fthe\u00a0#Push4Science Campaign,\u202fand\u00a0the\u00a0Climate Science Youth Camp\u2014all of which have been revamped for online\u00a0learning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KCFI is a non-profit organization that&nbsp;develops, acquires, and distributes Department of Education K-12 curriculum-based multimedia learning resources on-air, online, and offline to supplement the effective and relevant delivery of basic education, improve the engagement and learning of public school children, and contribute to national development and progress.\u202fThe company&nbsp;works towards educating and empowering poor and marginalized children through media,&nbsp;and is well-known for its educational shows such as&nbsp;Sineskwela&nbsp;and Math-Tinik.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the newly-signed Memorandum of Agreement, DOST-SEI and KCFI&nbsp;look to collaborate on bringing the Institute\u2019s programs to a wider audience, leveraging the Knowledge Channel\u2019s&nbsp;on-air and online platforms.&nbsp;The agreement&nbsp;was signed on behalf of the&nbsp;DOST-SEI&nbsp;by its&nbsp;Director,&nbsp;Josette&nbsp;T.&nbsp;Biyo,&nbsp;and&nbsp;its&nbsp;Chief Science Research Specialist,&nbsp;Ruby R. Cristobal.&nbsp;The KCFI was represented by its President and Executive Director, Elvira Lopez Bautista, and&nbsp;its Director of Operations,&nbsp;Edric&nbsp;C.&nbsp;Calma.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bautista welcomed the agreement, pointing out that it is just the latest of many private-public partnerships between the TKCFI and the DOST. In particular, she&nbsp;noted that the DOST-SEI\u2019s mathematics and science courseware&nbsp;have reached hundreds of schools nationwide thanks to the Knowledge Channel\u2019s portable media libraries.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are thrilled to enter into&nbsp;yet another&nbsp;exciting&nbsp;collaboration.
