(Smart) and ePLDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe formation of this&nbsp;Cybersecurity&nbsp;Council&nbsp;highlights our&nbsp;Group\u2019s commitment to ensure that our services\u2014and in turn, our customers\u2014are safe from cyber threats, and that effective, enterprise-grade&nbsp;cybersecurity&nbsp;solutions are available to safeguard the data of our customers across the&nbsp;group,\u201d said PLDT chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"445\" src=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40197\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity1.jpg 620w, http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity1-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;Council&nbsp;will be composed of representatives from PLDT, Smart, ePLDT, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, Inc. (MPHHI), Maynilad Water Services, Inc., Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), Philex Mining, Makati Medical Center, Mediaquest Holdings, Inc., Metropac Movers, PLDT Global,&nbsp;MVP&nbsp;Rewards and Keralty Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCyber risks are business risks, and as they become more numerous, frequent and severe, the&nbsp;MVP&nbsp;Group&nbsp;must take steps to ensure coordinated mitigation, response and resilience&nbsp;cybersecurity&nbsp;measures across the member-companies and their respective industries,\u201d said PLDT&nbsp;Group&nbsp;Chief Information Security Officer Angel Redoble, who leads the&nbsp;council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"445\" src=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40198\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity2.jpg 620w, http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/cybersecurity2-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;Council, the first by a Philippine conglomerate, is also in compliance with existing laws such as the Data Privacy Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act, which require companies to safeguard customer data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe plan is to work closely with the government and the Department of Information and Communications Technology in cultivating awareness of&nbsp;cybersecurity&nbsp;issues.
