It\u2019s a smart solution where both operators\nand commuters enjoy the efficiency and ease of use associated with QR\ntechnology. We are grateful to our partners for supporting the initiative and\nhope to replicate the same elsewhere in the Philippines,\u201d said Joey Lim,\nchairman of the board at AF Payments, Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nnew ticketing system allows commuters to pay their fare using their GCash\nmobile app. At the ticket counter, open the GCash app. Choose Pay QR, generate\nyour own QR code, and scan the QR code on the beep QR Reader before boarding\nthe bus or ferry. Your QR ticket will automatically print and the fare will be\ndeducted from your GCash account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nnew QR payment and ticketing system offers a convenient way of paying and\npresents more payment options for passengers. It also promotes commuter safety.\nWith 6.5-million beep cards in the market and over 20-million GCash account\nholders nationwide, this service is expected to benefit a sizable portion of\ne-wallet customers in the Philippines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\nbelieve that QR ticketing and payments will improve not only the speed of\nboarding but also offer our riders more options for payment. We are happy to be\nthe first bus company in Metro Manila to have this new system,\u201d said Jun\nGalvez, general manager at Bonifacio Transport Corporation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Topline\nExpress Ferries president\/CEO Eugene Erik Lim said, \u201cpassenger safety and\nconvenience are a priority to us, so this is a much needed development that\nwill greatly benefit the riding public.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To\nfurther promote cashless payments, AF Payments is planning to roll out QR\nticketing to other partner buses in Metro Manila in the coming months. They are\nalso in a discussion with the Department of Information and Communications\nTechnology (DICT) for possible QR ticketing in MRT and LRT. QR tickets are easy\nto use and reduce implementation and integration cost for public transport\noperators.
