{"id":35763,"date":"2019-07-02T20:49:07","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T12:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=35763"},"modified":"2019-07-02T20:49:11","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T12:49:11","slug":"manulife-phl-appointed-fintech-ph-insurtech-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2019\/07\/02\/manulife-phl-appointed-fintech-ph-insurtech-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"Manulife Phl appointed FinTech PH InsurTech chair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Manulife Philippines was named chair of the newly-formed InsurTech Committee of the Fintech Philippines Association (FinTech PH).\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FinTech\nPH Executive Director Amor Maclang shares that the InsurTech Committee was\ncreated with the following objectives: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Improve\ninsurance penetration in the Philippines; <\/li><li>Promote\ncollaboration among industry players and with regulators to explore\nnon-traditional platforms, processes, and products for customers; <\/li><li>Help\nembrace a culture of innovation among stakeholders.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As\nhead of the InsurTech Committee, Manulife Philippines aims to bring together\nvarious stakeholders, including insurers, regulators, insurance advisors and\ncustomers, to make insurance accessible to more Filipinos. Manulife hopes to\nachieve this by leveraging its regional and global presence to provide access\nto actionable information, exploring joint industry research and studies, and using\ntechnology to foster financial awareness and promote the importance of\ninsurance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\nis a lot of room to grow in the insurance industry. According to the Bangko\nSentral ng Pilipinas\u2019 Financial Inclusion Survey,<a href=\"#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\nonly 18% of the Filipino adults have insurance protection. Because of this, we\nwant to develop and promote innovative solutions to enable more Filipinos to\nplan for their future and live better lives,\u201d said Melissa Henson, Senior Vice\nPresident and Chief Marketing Officer of Manulife Philippines. \u201cAt Manulife, we\nare using technology to better connect with our customers, make it easier for\nthem to access their accounts, invest in funds, facilitate the process of\napplying for policies, and improve their overall experience with us.
