{"id":35407,"date":"2019-06-03T10:22:36","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T02:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=35407"},"modified":"2019-06-03T10:22:40","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T02:22:40","slug":"dost-sei-invites-science-math-teachers-to-join-innobox-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2019\/06\/03\/dost-sei-invites-science-math-teachers-to-join-innobox-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"DOST-SEI invites science, math teachers to join InnoBox contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The\u00a0Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute\u00a0is calling on the country\u2019s public and private elementary and secondary school educators who are currently teaching science and\/or mathematics to submit proposals for the\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>\u201cInnoBox\u201d<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Innovation in a Box\u00a0competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cInnoBox\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;is a nationwide search for the most innovative teaching and learning resources which can be used in teaching both science and mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea behind&nbsp;<em>\u201cInnoBox\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;is for educators to come up with ideas for a more engaging learning experience in the classroom, as they embrace new roles as innovators and designers of learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re always on the lookout for teachers who are keen on improving science and math education in the country,\u201d\u00a0DOST-SEI Director Dr. Josette Biyo\u00a0said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DOST-SEI, best known for implementing various science scholarship programs, recognizes the crucial role of teachers in strengthening science and technology in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now on its second run, the project aims to encourage educators to be innovative, creative, and practical in teaching science and math concepts to improve students\u2019 performance in these subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nine teachers\/group of teachers (three per category) will be given 50,000 pesos each to develop their project prototype. The top three winners (one per category) will receive a plaque of recognition and 100,000 pesos each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DOST-SEI invites all qualified teachers to submit proposals in any of the following search categories: Grades 3-6, Grades 7-10 and Grades 11-12. The proposed learning resources must not have been awarded or given any kind of special recognition in previous competitions.
