{"id":33148,"date":"2018-09-19T13:30:03","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T05:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=33148"},"modified":"2018-09-19T21:14:34","modified_gmt":"2018-09-19T13:14:34","slug":"data-breach-may-have-exposed-personal-info-of-213-customers-says-abs-cbn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2018\/09\/19\/data-breach-may-have-exposed-personal-info-of-213-customers-says-abs-cbn\/","title":{"rendered":"Data breach may have exposed personal info of 213 customers, says ABS-CBN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ABS-CBN has temporarily taken down the <a href=\"http:\/\/store.abs-cbn.com\/\">ABS-CBN Store<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/uaapstore.com\/\">UAAP Store<\/a> websites today (19 Sep 2018) at 9:30 AM following a report of a data breach of its online shopping facility.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/abscbnpr.com\/press-statement-on-abs-cbn-store-and-uaap-store-websites\/\">press statement<\/a>, Kane Errol Choa, ABS-CBN Head of Integrated Corporate Communications, noted that personal information and credit card details of the company&#8217;s customers may have been exposed, and that 213 customers who may have been affected. \u00a0However, the investigation is still ongoing, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Choa emphasized that the data breach incident is isolated only to the ABS-CBN Store and the UAAP Store websites and does not affect other ABS-CBN digital properties.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have informed the National Privacy Commission and will be working closely with them. We have started reaching out to all our affected customers. We also advise our customers not to give out additional personal and financial information to anyone who may be claiming to be an ABS-CBN representative,\u201d said Choa. \u201cWe assure our customers that their privacy and the security of their personal data are important to us and we will take measures to prevent this incident from happening again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement, Commissioner Raymund Enriquez Liboro of the National Privacy Commission said that at 12:37 PM today, they received breach notification from the company\u2019s Data Protection Officer (DPO), Jay C.
