In order to survive and thrive in today\u2019s digital world, businesses are implementing new technologies, processes and skillsets to best address changing customer needs. A fundamental first step to this change is transforming IT, to help organizations bring products to market faster, remain competitive and drive innovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">Based on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dellemc.com\/en-us\/it-transformation\/index.htm#cobrand=intel&amp;overlay=\/collateral\/analyst-reports\/esg-it-transformation-report-agility-innovation-business.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ESG\u2019s 2018 IT Transformation Maturity Study<\/a>\u00a0commissioned by Dell EMC and Intel,\u00a081%\u00a0of survey respondents agree if they\u00a0do not embrace IT Transformation, their organization will\u00a0no longer be competitive\u00a0in their markets,\u00a0up from 71% in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">88%\u00a0of respondents say their organization\u00a0is under pressure to deliver new products and services\u00a0at an increasing rate.\u00a0Transformed\u00a0organizations are\u00a022x\u00a0as likely to be\u00a0ahead of the competition\u00a0when bringing new products and services to market. Also, transformed\u00a0organizations are\u00a02.5x\u00a0more likely to believe they are in a\u00a0strong position to compete and succeed\u00a0in their markets over the next few years. Similarly, transformed\u00a0companies are\u00a018x\u00a0more likely to make better and faster\u00a0data-driven decisions\u00a0than their competition and are 2x as likely to exceed their revenue goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">\u201cData is the new competitive edge \u2013 yet it\u2019s become highly distributed across the edge, the core data center and cloud.\u00a0 Organizations realize they have to move quickly to turn that data into business intelligence \u2013 requiring an end-to-end IT infrastructure that can manage, analyze, store and protect data everywhere it lives,\u201d said Jeff Clarke, vice chairman, products and operations, Dell Technologies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">The ESG 2018 IT Transformation Maturity Study follows the seminal study commissioned by Dell EMC, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dell.com\/learn\/us\/en\/id\/press-releases\/2017-4-19-dell-new-research-only-5-percent-of-large-companies-to-meet-it-requirements-of-digital-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ESG 2017 IT Transformation Maturity Study<\/a>, and was designed to provide insight into the state of IT Transformation, the business benefits fully transformed companies experience, and the role critical technologies have in an IT Transformation. ESG employed a research-based, data-driven maturity model to identify different stages of IT Transformation progress and determine the degree to which global organizations have achieved those different stages, based on their responses to questions about their organizations\u2019 adoption of modernized data center technologies, automated IT processes and transformed organizational dynamics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoBodyText\">\u201cCompanies today need to be agile to stay competitive and drive growth, and IT Transformation can be a major enabler of that,\u201d said John McKnight,\u00a0VP of research,\u00a0Enterprise Strategy Group. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that IT Transformation is increasingly resonating with companies and that senior executives recognize how IT Transformation is pivotal to overall business strategy and competitiveness. While achieving transformation can be a major endeavor, our research shows \u2018Transformed\u2019 companies experience real business results, including being more likely to be ahead of the competition in bringing new products and services to market, making better, faster data-driven decisions than their competition, and exceeding their revenue goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">This year\u2019s 4,000 participating organizations were segmented into the same IT Transformation maturity stages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">Stage 1\u00a0\u2013 Legacy (6%):\u00a0Falls short on many \u2013 if not all \u2013 of the dimensions of IT Transformation in the ESG study<\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">Stage 2 \u2013 Emerging (45%):\u00a0Showing progress in IT Transformation but having minimal deployment of modern data center technologies<\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">Stage 3 \u2013 Evolving (43%):\u00a0Showing commitment to IT Transformation and having a moderate deployment of modern data center technologies and IT delivery methods<\/li>\n<li class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">Stage 4 \u2013 Transformed (6%):\u00a0Furthest along in IT Transformation initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">This year\u2019s findings show organizations are progressing in IT maturity and generally believe transformation is a strategic imperative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">96%\u00a0of respondents said they have Digital Transformation initiatives underway\u2014either at the planning stage, at the beginning of implementation, in process, or mature.\u00a0Respondents whose organizations have achieved\u00a0Transformed\u00a0status are\u00a016x more likely\u00a0to have mature Digital Transformation projects underway versus Legacy companies (66% compared with 4%).<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoListParagraph\">Transformed\u00a0organizations were more than\u00a02x as likely\u00a0to have exceeded their revenue targets in the past year compared with Legacy organizations (94% compared to 44%). Also,\u00a084%\u00a0of respondents with mature Digital Transformation initiatives underway said they were in a strong or very strong position to compete and succeed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv5679410828ydp22cd3600yiv0794413158MsoNormal\">IT Transformation maturity can accelerate innovation, drive growth, increase IT efficiency and reduce cost. More specifically, transformed\u00a0organizations are\u00a0able to\u00a0reallocate\u00a017%\u00a0more of their IT budget toward\u00a0innovation; they complete\u00a03x\u00a0more\u00a0IT projects ahead of schedule\u00a0and\u00a0are\u00a010x\u00a0more likely to deploy the majority of their applications ahead of schedule; and transformed\u00a0organizations also report they complete\u00a014%\u00a0more\u00a0IT projects under budget\u00a0and\u00a0spend\u00a031% less\u00a0on business-critical applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today\u2019s business landscape is rife with disruption, much of it driven by organizations using technology in new or innovative ways.
