{"id":30629,"date":"2018-01-05T11:25:41","date_gmt":"2018-01-05T03:25:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=30629"},"modified":"2018-01-05T11:25:41","modified_gmt":"2018-01-05T03:25:41","slug":"globe-issues-official-statement-on-expiry-of-prepaid-load","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2018\/01\/05\/globe-issues-official-statement-on-expiry-of-prepaid-load\/","title":{"rendered":"Globe issues official statement on expiry of prepaid load"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Globe-Logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-27817\" src=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Globe-Logo-300x112.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"112\" \/><\/a>In light of the recent prepaid load issue, Globe Telecom has released the following official statement:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cGlobe Telecom will comply with the NTC-DICT-DTI Joint\u00a0Memorandum Circular No. 05-12-2017 prescribing a one (1) year expiration period for prepaid load.\u00a0 Effective\u00a0January 5, 2018,\u00a0all Globe prepaid load with denomination of 300 pesos and above will carry a one (1) year expiration period.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>We welcome the latest directive of the DICT granting a six months extension on the implementation of the 1-year load expiration for denominations below 300 pesos. \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Telecommunications as a business requires complex, advanced and real time systems that should be extensively tested, bearing in mind the impact to our 57 million prepaid customers, including transactions and voice, SMS, and data traffic that these systems support. The 6-months extension will give us ample time to\u00a0prepare for the smooth and seamless implementation of the expiration change across all denominations.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Among the changes that we will address are the following:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><b><i>Expansion of Capacity.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><i>Extension of the load expiry will require additional capacity and additional cost. While we have\u00a0built adequate capacity for 2018, we will need\u00a0to\u00a0build more capacity and purchase additional licenses\u00a0to\u00a0accommodate the change. This will include purchase of licenses and software programming by third party vendors.<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>2. \u00a0<\/i><b><i>System Tests<\/i><\/b><i>. We will\u00a0conduct optimization\u00a0and interoperability tests\u00a0to\u00a0minimize any adverse impact\u00a0to\u00a0customers when we implement changes and expand the capacity of \u00a0several information technology systems.<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>3. \u00a0<\/i><b><i>Additional Number Series.<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0To\u00a0fully implement the change, we will need additional number series from the\u00a0NTC. Otherwise, we will run out of numbers as a direct result of the longer load expiration period. Moreover, we need\u00a0to\u00a0define and fully test the new number series before making them available for our new customers.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Furthermore, there may be new conditions applied to prepaid services within the next six months to ensure a sustainable quality of service.\u201d -Atty.
