Apple has unveiled its 2017 charts and trends, celebrating the most popular apps, music, movies, TV shows, books and podcasts across the App Store, Apple Music, iTunes, iBooks and Apple Podcasts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Editors and curators from Apple Music, App Store and iTunes highlight great content from indie artists and developers from around the globe.<\/p>\n

Music<\/strong>
\nOn Apple Music, Drake tops album of the year with \u201cMore Life,\u201d while Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u201cShape of You\u201d gets top song honors. Taylor Swift\u2019s album \u201creputation\u201d has already shot up to #3 on the 2017 US top album charts, despite having only been available for a short period of time. Apple Music Up Next 2017 artists Khalid, Daniel Caesar and 6LACK all earned GRAMMY nominations as part of their success this year.<\/p>\n

Apps<\/strong>
\nApp Store editors identify four breakout trends in app culture for 2017: the introduction of AR (augmented reality) apps and games, the rise of real-time competitive gaming, apps focused on mental health and mindfulness and apps transforming storytelling and reading.<\/p>\n

\nThe top movie of the year was \u201cMoana,\u201d followed by \u201cRogue One: A Star Wars Story\u201d and \u201cWonder Woman.\u201d iTunes is leading the charge toward 4K HDR content, with most of the top charting movies already available in 4K HDR as well as classics and holiday favorites like the Harry Potter series, \u201cHome Alone,\u201d \u201cOffice Christmas Party\u201d and \u201cDr. Seuss\u2019 How the Grinch Stole Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

iTunes TV<\/strong>
\nDrama is the genre dominating the iTunes TV charts this year, with favorites like \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d and \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d topping the year. New series driving the charts this year were HBO\u2019s \u201cBig Little Lies,\u201d NBC\u2019s \u201cThis Is Us,\u201d PBS\u2019s \u201cVictoria\u201d and FX\u2019s \u201cThe Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple Podcasts<\/strong>
\n\u201cFresh Air\u201d remains the most downloaded podcast of the year. Daily news has proven a popular genre, with new podcasts this year like \u201cThe Daily\u201d from the New York Times and \u201cUp First\u201d from NPR charting in the most downloaded podcasts of the year. True crime continues to drive listenership with top shows like \u201cA Murder On Orchard Street,\u201d \u201cDirty John\u201d and \u201cS-Town.\u201d<\/p>\n

iBooks<\/strong>
\nThis year\u2019s iBooks fiction charts were filled with titles adapted into TV shows including \u201cThe Handmaid\u2019s Tale\u201d and \u201cBig Little Lies,\u201d as well as \u201cfeel-good\u201d fiction such as \u201cBefore We Were Yours.\u201d \u201cHillbilly Elegy\u201d topped the nonfiction charts, leading a wave of titles on current events and politics.<\/p>\n

iTunes U<\/strong>
\nComputer science was a huge area of interest in 2017, with the top three courses on iTunes U focusing on learning to code and developing apps with Swift.
