Among its standard-equipment items are:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>advanced multistage, driver and front-passenger air bags<\/li>\n<li>advanced side-curtain air bags<\/li>\n<li>advanced supplemental front-seat side air bags<\/li>\n<li>and a driver-side inflatable knee bolster<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And while restraint systems are critical to the Company&#8217;s safety strategy, crash-avoidance technology is also a high priority. Available on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system called Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.<\/p>\n<p>The system features <a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/media.fcanorthamerica.com\/newsrelease.do?id=17381&amp;mid=275\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-include=\"300367959\">sensor-fusion technology<\/a>, which leverages the combined benefits of cameras and radar. The technology affords greater object-detection precision because camera and radar must agree before Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation will deploy.<\/p>\n<p>If camera and radar agree that a frontal impact with another vehicle appears imminent, the system pre-fills the Grand Cherokee&#8217;s brakes and transmits audible and visual warnings urging the driver to react. If there is no driver response, the system triggers a brief brake application as a tactile alert.<\/p>\n<p>If the driver remains unresponsive and frontal collision risk remains, the Grand Cherokee&#8217;s brakes are applied to slow the vehicle before impact. The system may bring the vehicle to full stop if an imminent frontal collision is detected at speeds below 25 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Sensor-fusion technology was once reserved for luxury-segment vehicles. Today, <span class=\"xn-person\">FCA US<\/span> makes it available across six vehicle segments \u2013 from small SUV to minivan.<\/p>\n<p>NHTSA acknowledges AEB as a preferred technology, though its benefits are not factored into the agency&#8217;s ratings.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the fourth consecutive year the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4&#215;4 has earned a five-star safety rating from NHTSA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4&#215;4 has earned a five-star overall safety rating from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
