A new survey of Millennials by Wakefield Research for <a class=\"linkOnClick\" href=\"http:\/\/www.graebel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-include=\"300356569\">Graebel<\/a>, a provider of corporate relocation services for Global 100 and Fortune 500 firms, found 84 percent of Millennials are willing to relocate for a job, and 82 percent believe they will be required to relocate if they want to advance their careers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/tech-mobility.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26973\" src=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/tech-mobility.jpg\" alt=\"tech-mobility\" width=\"642\" height=\"1266\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/tech-mobility.jpg 642w, http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/tech-mobility-152x300.jpg 152w, http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/tech-mobility-519x1024.jpg 519w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the survey revealed that Millennials are willing to make significant sacrifices in order to live and work in their &#8220;dream&#8221; cities in the US and abroad. More than 80 percent would be willing to take a pay cut if necessary to relocate to a dream destination; 71 percent would be willing to postpone marriage and 72 percent would be willing to postpone having children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Twenty years ago, a much smaller percentage of the workforce\u2014typically C-suite executives\u2014expected to need to relocate for career advancement,&#8221; said <span class=\"xn-person\">Bill Graebel<\/span>, president and CEO of Graebel. &#8220;Now we&#8217;re seeing a significant shift toward younger employees relocating, sometimes internationally, and it&#8217;s changing how companies think about talent acquisition and retention, and how employees map their lives and careers. Millennials embrace the notion of relocating as a catalyst for achieving career goals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Survey findings include:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b>Millennials on the Move:<\/b> Millennials have a global mindset when it comes to their careers. Eighty-four percent are willing to relocate for a job, 72 percent domestically and 41 percent internationally.<\/li>\n<li><b>Career Building through Mobility: <\/b>Eighty-two percent of Millennials believe eventual relocation will be necessary for career advancement, and 83 percent say they would give preference to a prospective employee who has worked abroad, if they were in charge of hiring.<\/li>\n<li><b>Motivated by Money:<\/b> When it comes to relocation, Millennials are more motivated by money than by experience. Sixty-five percent would\u00a0move to a foreign country for\u00a0higher income,\u00a0compared to 35 percent who would relocate for the experience.<\/li>\n<li><b>Life Milestones at Home and Abroad: <\/b>In order to live in their dream destination, 72 percent of childless Millennials would delay having kids and 71 percent of single respondents would postpone getting married. However, a large percentage of Millennials would be willing to build a life while working overseas\u201443 percent would buy a home, 47 percent would buy a car, 41 percent would get a pet and 34 percent would get married and have children.<\/li>\n<li><b>Independent-Minded: <\/b>Although traditionally, employers not only pay for relocation expenses but also make the arrangements, 78 percent of Millennials would rather make all the travel and housing decisions themselves using a company stipend.
