Galang, Information and Communication Technology Director of Lyceum of the Philippines University &#8211; Manila Campus.\u00a0 \u201cOur stakeholders became more productive. They are now equipped with the 21st century information skills and knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunication and collaboration make it easier for the teachers and students to work with each other in real-time from virtually anywhere,\u201d Galang added.<\/p>\n<p>New solutions rolled out by Microsoft for LPU include Office 365, which combined the Microsoft Office desktop suite that faculty, staff and students have long been used to with cloud-based versions of today\u2019s latest collaboration and communication tools.<\/p>\n<p>Office 365\u2019s cloud platform has also been able to provide users with more secure email and Office services, specifically real-time communications using Microsoft Exchange Online and Office Online that allow users to accomplish more tasks, whether independently or with a group.<\/p>\n<p>LPU has also been benefitting from Microsoft Azure for DreamSpark, a program that supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional-level developer and designer tools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The program equips students with professional-level developer and designer tools, and helps educators teach the latest technologies and experiment in research. Since Microsoft Azure is available in an open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform, LPU staff and students are able to get a head start with the services they need to develop in the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>Through their new partnership with Microsoft, LPU gained access to solutions that provide efficiencies to manage administrative and operational functions with an Active Directory, that is available in both desktop and WiFi accounts of LPU employees and students.<\/p>\n<p>An Access Control Server provided for in-house redirection and E-books server for student access and downloads. And lastly, the payroll system was upgraded with HR biometrics monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>LPU employees have shared how their partnership with Microsoft has helped them become more knowledgeable about today\u2019s latest innovations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI gained knowledge on cloud computing and services, webs app management and the Internet of Things (IoT),\u201d said Melvin M. Grencio, Technology Specialist II Analysis and Implementation Services. \u201cI was able to gradually develop the skills of a training facilitator and share what I\u2019ve learned from the trainings provided by Microsoft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, learning is not only on the four walls of a classroom, but also from the community where you are connected,\u201d Grencio added.<\/p>\n<p>LPU is a member of the Microsoft Virtual Academy and Microsoft IT Academy. The Virtual Academy has been able to help staff and students in learning the latest technologies through free, self-paced, online training, while the IT Academy provides training not only on fundamental technology skills, but also technical courses for students, faculty and staff who are interested in pursuing an IT career in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lyceum of the Philippines University has partnered with Microsoft Philippines to upgrade its educational system for more than 1000 faculty members and staff throughout its 5 LPU campuses.
