IT firm ASUS Philippines and Edukasyon.PH, an education technology platform, are working together through the ASUS Edukasyon School Partner Program to improve the education technology in the Philippines by helping schools modernize their IT facilities and for educators and students to enhance their teaching and learning processes, respectively.
The ASUS Edukasyon School Partner Program focuses on maintaining and growing solutions that are essential and especially dedicated to schools and students to further enhance their distance learning tools as distance learning turns out to be a challenge. Data shows that only 28% of Filipino students believe they are prepared for distance learning. It is not only students but teachers as well who are being left behind by this digital shift.
To address this challenge, the program provides the right tools and training materials they need to keep teaching and guiding students through the new online setup. It also offers a platform that put the education ecosystem through various events, webinars and trends. School administrators and technicians will be provided with up-to-date technology and all-around support, including cloud-based applications to supply the need for collaborative learning and cybersecurity ware to keep important records and student data safe. Through this program, technology is changing the way students learn and the way educators teach in the 21st century.
“By working closely with the IT departments of each school, we can be sure that they are equipped with the resources needed to effectively assist teachers and students through the digital shift,” said Rafi Quisumbing, chief technology officer at Edukasyon.PH and AWS authorized instructor.
For Edukasyon.PH CEO Grace David, the program is about empowering their IT partners and schools to make sure they are also well-equipped in running the projects to be able to impact the entire ecosystem.
According to George Su, country manager at ASUS Philippines, ASUS keeps on providing solutions to empower students and educators who are relying on digital platform for learning as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. Aside from products it offers, ASUS also supports and elevates the education in the country, and strengthen its commitment of providing better access to digital technologies especially during the pandemic.
Monchito Ibrahim, president of UP System Information Technology Foundation (UPSITF), Trustee of the Analytics Association of the Philippines (AAP), and ASUS Philippines ambassador of education and digital transformation, notes that the partnership does not only takes care of upskilling school administrators but also informing them of the available technology that are affordable and effective.
Ibrahim relayed that during this time of pandemic, the ASUS-Edukasyon.PH initiative is very timely as digital divide in the country has widened particularly in the rural areas. “With initiative such as this, at least a little bit, we’re trying to reduce the digital gap. We need more people to be more engaged in order to address the gap. It’s not just the government, it should be everyone getting together,” he said.
The ASUS Edukasyon School Partner Program is set to bridge the gap in virtual learning through a holistic, tech-forward approach. Benefits for ASUS partner schools include an annual IT fund, learning seminars, internship opportunities, and exclusive discounts on ASUS products.
To be launched in July 8, the ASUS Edukasyon School Partner Program will host a free live webinar on hosting, growing, and maintaining learning management systems (LMS) starting at 1:30 PM. The webinar is open to all IT personnel and teachers. Registration for the webinar is ongoing at asus.edukasyon.ph.
